Lime-Chile Spiced Salt
by Johnny Loua, Chef, Seattle, Washington
Spiced salts can be made ahead of time in large batches and stored for use all summer. Spiced salts are ideal for fries including those made from potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets, jicama, and zucchini. They’re also great for grilled or oven-roasted vegetables.
- 1 teaspoon chile flakes
- 2 teaspoons lime zest
- 1 teaspoon lemon thyme
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon onion flakes
- ½ teaspoon dried minced garlic*
- ½ cup sea salt
- *Dried or dehydrated minced garlic can typically be found in the spice aisle.
In a high-speed blender, combine all ingredients (except the salt) and mix well. Transfer to a bowl and stir in salt.
