Cinnamon-Rosemary Old Fashioned

An age-old classic gets a seasonal tune-up for the perfect holiday nightcap.
- 4 teaspoons Cinnamon-Rosemary Simple Syrup (recipe follows)
- 3 dashes bitters
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 1 strip orange peel
- Fresh rosemary, for garnish
To an Old-Fashioned glass, add simple syrup and bitters and swirl. Add bourbon, ice, and orange peel and stir. Garnish with a sprig of fresh rosemary.
Cinnamon-Rosemary Simple Syrup
- Makes about 1 cup (enough for 12 drinks)
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup water
- 4 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 3 cinnamon sticks
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, water, rosemary sprigs, and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a simmer, stirring frequently until honey dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool completely. Strain into an airtight container.
